A new research project: What is an easy-to-use pharmaceutical packaging like?
August 18, 2010
Santen will participate in a research project studying what makes a pharmaceutical packaging easy-to-use and how the usability can be tested. The research will compare the opening methods of different kinds of packages and how well they are suited for different purposes. It will also study the readability of labelling on the packaging. The research project is lead by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and its biggest single sponsor is Tekes – the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation. The project will start in autumn 2010 and last for two to three years.
- The usability of the pharmaceutical packaging has a very significant effect on patient compliance, and compliance is essential in order for treatment to be successful. Therefore the usability of the packaging has always a very important role in Santen product development. Being involved in this project will help us get new tools for enhancing the convenience of use of ophthalmic products and the readability of the information for the patient in the future, too, says Kari Lehmussaari, Vice President, Research & Development.
