Santen joins a forum aiming to reduce workplace accidents to zero
July 9, 2010
Santen management and personnel together are committed to reducing the number of workplace accidents and joined a forum aiming to reduce the number of workplace accidents to zero. The forum is a network of Finnish workplaces for improving occupational safety. Through the forum, firms get information of good practices set up in other workplaces as well as support and tools for improving occupational safety. It is sponsored by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health and approximately 225 workplaces have joined the network.
Santen has introduced an occupational safety management system which is compliant with the OHSAS 18001 certificate. Monthly safety checks, regular risk assessments and other internal audits aim to prevent workplace accidents. In the fiscal year 2008–2009, the number of workplace accidents was reduced by more than 25 percent, and so did the number of sick leaves due to workplace accidents.
