Santen progressing toward its EHS objectives

April 13, 2010

Santen has defined its environmental, health and safety (EHS) objectives until 2011, and is progressing toward them with determination. During fiscal year 2009, the total amount of waste decreased by 8 percent and the amount of paper waste decreased by 25 percent. Also the number of sick leaves due to industrial accidents decreased. Consumption of electricity increased by two percent, which is explained by the addition of new cold storage rooms in manufacturing.

– During the last fiscal year, 27 tonnes of paper and 138 tonnes of plastic were collected at Santen. This meant that 460 trees, 73 000 liters of water and 250 000 kilograms of crude oil were saved, calculates Sari Korhonen, Director, Manufacturing Department, who is responsible for EHS matters.
